This series consists of statistical, non-statistical, and individual reports of fires that occurred within or outside of forest boundaries. These reports contain the names and dates of fires; names of ranger districts in which the fires occurred; legal land descriptions where fires occurred; classes and sources of people responsible for the fires; causes of the fires; physical conditions where the fires occurred including types of ground cover, terrain, altitude, types of fuel involved, and rates and directions of winds; types and times of actions taken in suppressing the fires; to whom fires were originally reported to; number of men dispatched to suppress the fires; total areas burned; values of areas burned; and information relating to any law enforcement actions taken by the Forest Service subsequent to the fires. Also included with some reports are maps and narrative descriptions of eyewitness accounts or actions taken in suppressing the fires. Of particular interest in this series is an individual fire report for the Adobe Fire that began on June 27, 1965. The Adobe Fire involved singer and entertainer Johnny Cash when, per the fire report, his truck was stuck straddling a berm and the exhaust system ignited grass and dead fuel under the vehicle. This report includes a detailed narrative report of the incident and suppression efforts.
